£10m hospital building underway in Durham

Described as a vital resource for local communities, work has begun on the building of a £10m hospital in Durham.

Built under the Private Finance Initiative, the hospital will provide a vital service to residents living in the semi-rural region and who currently have to travel up to 30 miles to visit outpatient clinics.

The building is due to be finished in March 2007 and will feature purpose-built wards, up-to-date equipment and vital blood transfusion facilities.
