Independent schools to promote fairer society

Plans to create more independent schools have been defended by Ruth Kelly, the Education Minister, as an effective way to make the education system fairer.

It is certain that the building of new schools across the UK is a step in the right direction in facilitating equal access for all to quality resources and learning environments. Yet controversy has also arisen over the funding of schools with some arguing that private financing places too much control in the hands of business in what really should be a societal matter.

The only reason for schools to be "a societal matter" is if they are to be used for indoctrination.

It has been found that private schools and even home schooling are better at educating children.

Private schools are not better at creating an industrial age worker class. For that you need the societal influence of public schools.
