Hopital construction gets healthy cash injection

Health Secretary Partricia Hewitt announced today that an extra £2bn is earmarked for capital investment in the health sector. These funds, making up part of the £64bn allocated to the sector in 2006/7 are to be used solely on land and buildings, either for acquisition or refurbishment.

The funding is especially needed amongst mental health trusts where new hospital construction has fallen behind other primary care areas.
