Points mean permits for wannabe UK citizens

In an effort to fill the low-skill labour shortage in the UK, particularly in the Construction sector, British immigration laws are due to change dramatically. In keeping with a turbulent political backdrop, immigration laws in the UK will be changed to follow a similar points system adopted by Australia.

The new scheme will see immigrants applying for work visas depending on their aptitude, experience and age, although points will also be awarded in accordance with specific labour shortages at the time. The onus will then be placed on the employer to ensure workers abide by the rules of their visa.
