YORKON DEVELOPS PIONEERING NEW CONCEPT DESIGN FOR OFF-SITE CONSTRUCTION

Award-winning off-site construction specialist and Portakabin subsidiary, Yorkon, has launched a pioneering new exemplar design to demonstrate the architectural flexibility of its steel-framed modular building system.

The design concepts, which have a wide range of practical applications, were developed in partnership with leading architects tp bennett.

The aim of the research and development project was to incorporate the latest innovations in modular construction introduced by Yorkon – shaped modules and 12m clear internal spans for buildings up to six storeys high – to produce a series of inspiring designs that celebrate modern methods of construction.

Construction prices continue to soar

Report from Contract Journal: Tender prices continue to soar, particularly for large and complex construction projects in Central London, according to a report by cost management consultancy Davis Langdon.

Contractors now hold the bargaining power in contract negotiations, the report says, with every sector growing rapidly. This is enabling the inclusion of large risk allowances and healthy margins.
